Who We Are
It takes the concerted effort of many people and businesses to make this event happen. Our Board of Directors are only the tip of that iceberg. FSOWW Board of Directors
- Hugh Fuller - President
Hugh and Larry Nevels are responsible for the event concept. Along with Wendy Hearn of the Rockbox Theater, they performed the planning and worked with the Morning Rotary Club to organize the events. Hugh is also responsible for much of the funding for the first event. Hugh is the liaison between FSOWW and the military at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). Hugh is also a member of the Fredericksburg Noon Rotary Club - Larry Nevels - Vice President
Larry Nevels worked with Hugh Fuller and the Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club in the initial planning of this Event, and is a motivating force behind all of the event organization and fundraising. He takes primary responsibility for the execution of the event activities as well. Larry is a retired Navy Commander. He and his wife, Linda, operate the Commander’s Choice Bed and Breakfast, located at 514 Franklin Street, just off East Main Street. - Zach Pooser - Secretary/Treasurer
In addition to serving on the board, Zach does all the photography to memorialize the FSOWW events. He and his wife Karen, also provided website design and hosting and have volunteered many hours in support of the programs. They own Chassis by Zach, an auto repair facility in Fredericksburg. Zach served in the Navy as a Machinist Mate First Class and is currently serving as a Sergeant First Class in the Texas State Guard. - Bill Phillpotts
As the past president of the Morning Rotary Club of Fredericksburg, Bill lives it's motto of “Service above Self." Under Bill’s leadership, the Fredericksburg Morning Rotary Club was instrumental in forming the FSOWW and providing volunteer manpower and funding to assist during the events. Bill did his military service in the Army as a Captain in the Armored Cavalry. - Bill Burns
Bill works hard at fundraising and grant writing, efforts that enable the organization to continue providing outings for wounded service members. Bill served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps for two years then joined the Army Reserves attaining the rank of Major. - Lynda Donato
Among her many contributions of time and energy, Lynda is taking responsibility for advertising our events in the local media. Lynda worked as a real estate agent/broker in Hawaii for 20 years and still represents vacation homes in that beautiful state. She also operates Spotted Poney Ranch Cabins and B & B in Fredericksburg. She is also co-owner of Jacque Rudman Collections, a women’s boutique. - Joyce Spisak
Joyce is the newest member of the Board. She works with Zach to update and edit the Webpage and with Linda to draft articles for the newspaper. She is a retired Air Force Colonel. - Wendy Hearn
Wendy is the one of the originators of this program and continues to be one of it's biggest supporters. She and her husband Russ are the proprietors of RockBox Theater. Through their efforts and enthusiasm many RockBox patrons provided the financial support necessary to make the first two events happen.
